When Elizabeth Honaker (otherwise known as “Mizz Liz” by her numerous piano and English students) was five years old, she wrote her first book about a girl and her horse. She hasn’t stopped writing since. Of course, her fascination with literature was aided by her father’s printing business, and blossomed into a teaching career that spanned nearly three decades, involving guiding high school and college students through the steps of composition, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation of how literature stimulates the mind.
From 1990 until 2015, Mizz Liz wrote eighteen Christian dramas honoring Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and resurrection – eight of which are currently on Amazon. She directed these productions for her Methodist church, and – in the meantime – also sewed costumes, built and painted scenery, developed stage makeup classes, and guided (read “nagged”) her late electrical-genius-of-a-husband into wonderful lighting and sound for each presentation. Her passion regarding good, wholesome drama knows no bounds, as she is equally comfortable with medieval mystery plays, Shakespeare, and twentieth-century musicals as she is with developing stories from the New Testament.
Now a retired English professor and a widow, Elizabeth spends her time researching Early Church history for her six historical novels – and a proposed seventh. Recently, she has written a book of essays on her experience of widowhood, now available on Amazon. She invites you to enjoy her thought-provoking books (twenty on Amazon), as well as her various offerings on Substack.
